The research project at ICU units

Remember that me and Kristina Sahlqvist from HDK were working on a research design project for ICU units collobrating with neuroarchitecture? Kristina Sahlqvist led an interdisciplinary research project focusing on improving hospital environments for rehabilitation and since we had close contact since thesis i stepped in project helping with research part. The project involved experts from various fields and resulted in a conceptual solution for an optimal rehabilitation ward. The design included a central space for patients and families to cook and eat together, creating a more normal hospital experience. Sahlqvist has also previously collaborated on an artistic development project, incorporating redesigned furniture, smart textiles, and sensory elements. Sahlgrenska University Hospital plans to test multimodal stimulation in an intensive care room. The research considers the social dynamics of patients, families, and staff. Sahlqvist highlights the potential of neuroarchitecture for enhancing learning and emphasizes the need for more stimulating environments for older individuals.
