Start!

Here it comes,
Finally I m starting the blog for my thesis...
I had some confusions before, as I have changed - or better say: modified- my thesis quite recenlty, I was delayed and unwilling for blog thing. But now I see it can be a great back up for me -unless I dont abondon like my old blogs-, and it can be good for my examiner, or everyone involved in my thesis to keep track of me, or maybe some curious ones will want to learn what it is..

I have started thesis journey with my bright (!) idea of designing a spa oriented rehabilitation center for drug addicts... it was going to develop how to give a better rehabilitation to the patients having a common unit that can be used from exterior visitors as well. So the patients will be having this exclusive service as spa, financially maintained by the visitors, and they would have social interaction before they would complete their treatment. Here is the old abstract: http://www.scribd.com/full/48157399?access_key=key-1v56g8rrsqy2eohux46t

Everything looked so perfect on abstract on the site selection on project plan and so on... Until I interviewed the psychotherapist Björn Andersson... "It is a nice idea, but the addicts do not want to expose themselves... and most of them have been involved in crimes... (I don't think visitors will be also comfortable)..".

That was the end of an era, so I went to see my examiner again, desperately looking for other suggestions that I can pursue the similar idea.. rehab or/and design for psychology...
Here my examiner, Peter Fröst came with a brilliant suggestion:

Have I ever heard about neuroscience and architecture? He explained me as a very new emerging subject, that how architecture is affecting our brain so as our behaviors ... As architecture learns "how" and "why" from neuroscience, how to develop architecture with this approach? Very useful and practical for rehabilitation, habilitation, centers for children with brain injuries...
And he gave me documents from ANFA, Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture, and link http://www.anfarch.org/ and a new topic was born for me...
which followed up books (well, not that many as the earliest literatures are from 2005) lots of pdfs, online lectures.... I am right now digging up all information to form through my thesis topic!
"Enriching environments for children with brain injuries, applying neuroscience to architecture"
